OG Anunoby, the New York Knicks star forward, has made history by becoming the first player to win an NBA Championship in Skechers. On June 15, 2026, Anunoby led his team to victory, backed by the brand's signature Comfort That Performs®.

What happened?

Anunoby's historic win was a result of his outstanding performance throughout the playoffs and Finals. He wore Skechers Basketball exclusive Player Edition (PE) styles on the court, including the SKX Nexus "Euro" PE and the SKX Reign "Foreman" PE.

The SKX Nexus "NYC Blue" PE, which Anunoby wore during Game 4, was a nod to the City, his team, and the fans. Anunoby said, "Skechers has been an exceptional partner on this journey. They truly put care into building footwear that meets my needs."

Why it matters for OG Anunoby

Anunoby's partnership with Skechers has been a key factor in his success. Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, said, "OG has driven awareness and excitement for Skechers Basketball and our position in this sport. He embodies the spirit of not only Skechers Performance but the entire philosophy of Skechers as The Comfort Technology Company."

Anunoby's dynamic playing style is reflected in the two high-performance Skechers Basketball shoes he wore during the playoffs and Finals. The SKX Nexus™ is a low-top court shoe designed for speed, stability, and support, while the SKX Reign™ focuses on promoting elevation and intense traction.

What comes next?

Skechers is working on a signature shoe for Anunoby, although details have not been released yet. Anunoby's success with Skechers has shown that the brand's Comfort That Performs® technology can help athletes perform at their best.

Born in London, UK, Ogugua "OG" Anunoby grew up in Missouri from age four and excelled as a basketball phenom in high school. He was selected as a pre-season All-American by The Sporting News ahead of his freshman year at Indiana University.

In 2017, Anunoby declared for the NBA draft, where he was selected 23rd overall by the Toronto Raptors. In 2019, the Raptors won the NBA championship, making Anunoby the first British-born basketball player to ever earn the title.

Anunoby was traded to the New York Knicks at the end of 2023 and scored a career-high 40 points in a single game in November 2024. He has now won his second NBA championship, solidifying his position as one of the top players in the league.

The partnership between Anunoby and Skechers has been a successful one, with Anunoby's performance on the court showcasing the brand's technology. As Anunoby continues to succeed, it will be interesting to see how Skechers supports him in his future endeavors.
